Job Opening: Secretary General of the IDEA League

Formed in 1999, the IDEA League is a European alliance on strategic policy issues between major higher education institutions: Delft University of Technology, ETH Zürich, RWTH Aachen, Chalmers and Politecnico di Milano. The IDEA League is committed to the highest standards in research and education by establishing the exchange of best practise, benchmarking, bundling the different resources of value and knowledge and actively collaborating among each other.


The IDEA League is seeking a Secretary General for the management of its work. The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of fostering collaboration between the network’s member institutions. Together with the heads of the member universities he/she will develop new activities and strategies in the European Research and Higher Education Area and will initiate and support their realisation.


Successful candidates should have a background of a strong academic involvement (PhD would be desirable, preferably natural sciences, engineering or any other academic area close to the five universities’ profile), highly developed strategic skills and the ability to collaborate with partners with different cultural perspectives inside and outside the IDEA League. The candidate must be willing and able to travel among the partner universities located in different European countries.


The position is a part time assignment, 60 – 80%, to be negotiated.


The office of IDEA League will be located at one of partner universities.
