Application Process
The application window opens on 15 October of the previous year. The application deadline is 1 April of the same year the programme starts. More information on the application process can be found here.

Tuition and service fees
For up-to-date information regarding the tuition fees, please visit the Tuition and examination fee-page of TU Delft. These fees cover university-related costs. In addition, students need to budget for health and other insurances, accommodation, travel expenses and other personal living costs. For the application at the TU Delft international office, an application fee of €100 has to be payed.
Scholarships and Financial Support
Joint Master’s in Applied Geophysics scholarships
In cooperation with industry and governmental partners two scholarship programmes are offered on a competitive basis: the comprehensive scholarship and the tuition scholarship programme. Students seeking scholarships should mark the appropriate boxes on the application form.
Comprehensive scholarships
Industry scholarships covering the complete tuition fees for EU/EFTA and non-EU/EFTA students plus approx. €9000/year are available through a donation by Shell. Comprehensive scholarships are awarded for the period of two years.
Application comprehensive scholarship
The application window for the comprehensive scholarship opens with the application window for the study programme on 15 October of the previous year. The applications for comprehensive scholarships have to be submitted by 15 January of the same year the programme starts (The application deadline for the master programme is 1 April of the same year the programme starts). Selection of recipients is based on previous performance and motivation. Preference will be given to outstanding international students. The application form can be found here and needs to be uploaded with your application for the Applied Geophysics programme in the application software (Osiaan).
Tuition scholarships
As part of the so-called Bildungsfond, RWTH Aachen University awards scholarships each year as contribution towards the tuition fees and the cost of living, particularly for students from EU or EFTA countries. Scholarships are awarded competitively to students with superior course achievement in their prior academic studies and a dedicated motivation to the aims of the study programme.
The total of 7 600 € is paid out in monthly rates of 300 € plus an initial lump sum of 400 €. It is composed of approximately equal amounts of 4 000 € donated by sponsors (usually from industry) and 3 600 € from the RWTH Bildungsfond /Deutschlandstipendium. Additionally, the scholarship recipients are entitled to participate in a general social programme for the entire duration of their scholarship.
Application tuition scholarship
You have to apply for the tuition fee separately. Depending on availability, RWTH Aachen supports the costs for tuition fees with a tuition scholarship. In order to apply for one of these scholarships, please complete the following steps:
- Prepare all relevant documents that are listed here
- Submit a formal application to the “Deutschlandstipendium” programme through the RWTH Bildungsfonds application page.
The deadline for submitting the application is usually beginning of June – please check on the RWTH Bildungsfonds page for more information.
Erasmus Grant
The Erasmus Mobility Scholarship covers a max of 12 months of study in a country within the EU. Thus, a student can use this scholarship for their semester in Aachen and also if they travel for their thesis to another EU country. To be eligible, a student cannot be from the country where they will be traveling and a number of forms would need to be filled in and formalities addressed.
